Exmouth under-16s were good value for a 15-10 victory over Exeter Saracens.
The game started at lightning pace with both sets of forwards not giving an inch. The opening score came from a Flinn penalty to pout the Cockles into a 3-0 lead.
Despite dominating much of the remainder of the half the Cockles fell behind to a 25th minute Saracens try, scored after they won a line-out against the throw and that enabled them to take a 5-3 lead into the break.
The start of the second half saw sustained Cockles pressure resulting in Connor O’Shaughnessy scoring and Flinn adding the extras. Back came Saracens but the Cockles defence, with prop Harris and scrum-half Conway, putting in great shifts, stood form and they extended their lead when Burns bulldozed his way through a number of challenges to score.
The final word fell to the Saracens who struck with a late unconverted try but that was not sufficient to change the outcome with the Cockles worthy 15-10 victors.
