Tiverton fashioned the first scoring chance of the contest, but they missed a penalty from inside the Exmouth 22.

Nomads responded with some slick handling from Richard Cadywould and Sam Conway to set Matt Wells through for his first try of the game. Cadywould converted to put the Cockles into a 7-0 lead.

Cadywould also converted the next try from the goose-stepping Ross Matthews to push the score to 14-0.

Tiverton tried to hit back by moving the ball across the pitch but the Nomads defence held firm.

Matt Wells crossed for a second try following some barnstorming runs from a spritely Dan Carey, before Ian Wathes showed great strength to fend off two opponents to dot down, but Cadywould’s conversion attempt drifted wide.

The second half belonged to Exmouth team with Connor Smithers serving up a Man of the Match performance in the second row and Martin Westaway putting in the tackle of the day on the unassuming Tiverton full back.

Further tries were scored by Richie Guy, Aaron Conway and Richard Cadywould with Cadywould also converting twice as the Cockles sealed a clean sheet success.
