Archant

Exmouth Under-12s drew 14-all with Sidmouth in an entertaining local derby, writes Helen Sale.

The visitors started brightly and put together some neat passing to score an early converted try.

The Exmouth response was equally impressive as some slick handling ended with Finn Musgrove scoring a try and George Smale slotting the conversion to even things up.

After the break is was once again the visitors who scored first and they held the lead until five minutes from time when Ieuan Brockway crossed the line in the corner and young Musgrove slotted a wonderful conversion to leave honours ending even.

Sidmouth had the lion’s share of possession and could have won the game by a handsome margin. That they did not was in no small way down to the outstanding defence of Exmouth. The young Cockles had moments of brilliant passing and kept the pressure on the away team the whole match, making the game really enjoyable to watch.

The entire squad played well and they are really beginning to gel as a team.
