Withycombe Under-11s battled valiantly in a pair of matches with Cullompton.

The superior scrummaging and handling skills of the home side saw them ship the ball wide to be three tries up at half-time.

Withy tackling and rucking got them back into the game in the second half to exert periods of sustained pressure.

A Cully break away try against the run of play opened up a 28 point lead. The Withy game continued to improve and there endeavours were rewarded with a brace of late tries and a third in the dying seconds ruled out from an unlucky forward pass.

Cully claimed the game 28-14 with Tom Humphries and Matt Rye the Withy try scorers whilst Will Cooper slotted conversions for both tries.
