WINGER Adam Buckley notched a hat-trick of tries as Topsham registered a half century of points in a 57-6 win at Buckfastleigh on a cold and frosty Saturday afternoon in South Devon.

The first half gave little indication of what was to come as the Tops took a 10-6 lead into the break thanks to a brace of tries from Matt Hansford.

The match, played at the cricket ground, saw the surface harden considerably in the second half and this seemed to be helpful to the visitors running game, especially winger Buckley who showed a clean set of heels to the home defenders on more than one occasion.

One of the best tries of the game was that of Topsham number eight Ben Turner, who gathered the ball in his own 22 before running the length of then pitch to cross for a fine score.

There was also a debut try for another winger, with Dan Bray celebrating his first appearance in a Tops jersey with an excellent try and another feature of what was a fine all round effort form Topsham was the kicking of skipper Jack Knowles, who slotted no fewer than half a dozen of the kicks he was presented with.
