Withycombe under-10’s emerged from two matches with Brixham with a brace of well deserved victories.
The score lines in both matches were emphatic but belie the closeness between the sides.
The main difference being that Withycombe used the ball they won to great effect and defended tenaciously when Brixham were in possession.
In the first game Withy ran in seven tries and also managed to defend their line without Brixham registering as they recorded a 35-0 victory.
The defensive effort was led by Ollie Leeming whose ferocious tackling kept the visitors behind the game line throughout the match
The tries were shared amongst the back line with Joe Blyth and Finlay Fraser scoring a brace of tries each.
Blyth’s efforts both came from close range after good approach work from the forwards with Fraser benefiting from great support running and being on hand to finish off two moves started by the industrious Ben Bolwell.
Jake Yarwood showed great pace outstripping the defence after receiving another fine pass from Bolwell.
Bolwell then capped a great performance scoring a fine individual try jinking his way through leaden footed defenders on his way to the line.
Ollie Leeming showed what he could also do in attack scoring in the corner after the ball was fed along the whole back line.
