There were mixed fortunes for the Exmouth Under-15 Girls team in games against Exeter Saracens and Launceston.

In the meeting with Saracens they went down 32-7 but the margin of defeat was harsh for the Cockles gave a very good account of themselves. A powerful Saracens struck with a brace of early tries.

Despite being at a large weight disadvantage, the Exmouth scrum proved to be a good match for the much more experienced opposition pack and were more often than not the winners in the scrums!

A late try from Chloe Brookbank, converted by Shauna Avery-Critch, was no more than the Cockles deserved for their efforts.

After a short break the girls then took on Launceston but, despite the opposition having the fresher legs, it was the Cockles who made the early running and ran in a couple of excellent tries through Tallulah Bodenham and Avery-Critch.

Launceston broke through just before half time with a converted try.

After the break Exmouth increased the tempo and their renewed energy was rewarded with from Ella Griffin and Beckie Luford.

Launceston responded with another try but Bodenham bagged her second, converted by Avery-Critch to leave the Cockles winning 27-12.

The Under-15 ladies are always ready to welcome new recruits and a visit to the splendid Exmouth RFC website at www.exmouthrugby.co.uk, will reveal all the details of when training takes place.
