Rowsell, Auton and Farrant enjoy Bilby Cup success with 3-2 win over Totnes

AFTER winning their outstanding game, Cranford A take the lead in the Exmouth Snooker League, despite losing their un-beaten record in their latest encounter, writes David Binmore.

AFTER winning their outstanding game, Cranford A take the lead in the Exmouth Snooker League, despite losing their un-beaten record in their latest encounter, writes David Binmore.

Iain Callander 66-35 and Dan Brown 89-20 put them 2-1 ahead of East Budleigh A, before losing out to Mark Auton 76-40, Kevin Luxton 51-49 and Alan Farrant 83-31. Despite this marvellous victory, their fourth of the campaign, East Budleigh A remain 10th in the table.

Otterton A stay second despite a crushing defeat at home to Conservative A. Clive Parnell won their only point 60-35, then saw his team succumb to Sue Binmore 60-6, Cyril Evans 66-31, John Evens 51-24 and John Anderson 59-36.

Snooker Club C keep third place with a 3-2 win at the Number Nine B. Rob Lowe 76-30, David Binmore 49-40 and Alan Pyne 77-57 had their winning margin cut by Mike Page 53-17 and Jon Holford 56-15.

Chris Hoskins 79-47 and Jeff Cross 78-21 shared four frames with George Burlefinger 48-21 and Mark Oliver 60-24 of Number Nine A before Jay Brant clinched the decider 58-14 for Topsham Conservative to remain fourth.

In the Police Social Club derby, the 'B' team went ahead through John Spamer 70-63 and Peter Gibson 82-7.

The 'A' team then drew level with Mick Jordan 44-40 and Colin Laver 72-62, before Bob Horton sealed victory for the B, 63-31.

Another 4-1 winning score helped the Snooker Club B to a share of 5th place, only 5 points off the lead, after losing five of their eight matches played thus far.

Mark Rock 97(47)-81, Mark Gibbings 59-45, Gordon Benzie 82-60 and Mark Hayne w/o dropped only the 4th frame to Barry Bentley 93-52 from East Budleigh C.

In the Devon Inter-League qualifying matches for the Bilby Cup, Exmouth A beat Totnes 3-2 with Carl Rowsell 64-25, Mark Auton 60-11 and Alan Farrant's decider 69-37.

Exmouth B lost their encounter at Dawlish by the same narrow margin with their two wins coming from Dion Newcombe and Darren Smith.
