Budleigh Salterton slipped to a 3-2 defeat at home to Ottery St Mary in a Macron Devon and Exeter League meeting at Greenway Lane, writes SpursTom.

The first half was a goalless affair, but the action was far from mundane both teams fashioned chances.

The deadlock was broken 11 minutes into the second half when the Robins’ teenage hit man Adam Wilkinson fired the home side ahead, and, just a minute later it was 2-0 with Elliot Mann the scorer. At that stage of the contest, Budleigh were in a terrific position. However, with 13 minutes remaining Ben Rushton fired the Otters back into the contest, albeit, with a wind-assisted shot. Then, just as the home side had done, within one minute of finding the net they did so again with Rushton netting his second.

There followed a period of end-to-end action during which time both sides created further opportunities. However, it was Ottery who sealed all three points when, with time running out, Adam Brook rifled home a free-kick.

It’s a defeat the Robins could have done without considering their low league position.
