Budleigh Salterton Ladies progressed in the DWFL League Cup with a battling 2-0 win at Axminster Town.
The game was a chance for the Robinettes to claw out of the Tigresses strangle hold over them in cup competitions. It was always going to be tough, and the visitors battled, with their heroes being goalkeeper Jordyn Ward, Jodie Millett (LB), Beth Acca (CH), Kathryn Parsley (CH), Kayleigh Roberts (RB) (taken off with a head injury in the 31st minute). Her replacement at right back, Katie Worsley, was just as magnificent in that position.
The opening goal in the ninth minute came via a corner kick from Chelsea Leggett landed at Roberts feet, and her pass to left-back partner Jodie Millett was struck home.
The second half was only four minutes old, when a clearance found Tahla Williams, a couple strides taken, an executed lob with her weaker foot and the Axminster goalkeeper was beaten.
