Exmouth Sea Angling Association held their annual Heaviest Bag competition, writes Bob Pennels.

With a brown choppy sea, strong winds and freezing temperatures it turned out to bea most unpleasant night for the seven competing anglers!

With the road to scheduled venue Branscombe closed for road works the match was switched to Budleigh.

All anglers managed to catch fish with a grand total of 33lb being landed between the seven.

There were no new club records set, but it is still very early in the season!

The winner was Mike Richardson with 9.56lb and second place went to Barry Pester with 7.34lb.

Andy Browning took third spot with a 5.82lb catch.

Full results: 1, Mike Richardson (9.56lb) 11pts; 2, Barry Pester (7.34lb) 10pts; 3, Andy Browning (5.82lb) 9pts; 4, Nick Chandler (4.49lb) 8pts; 5, B Reed (2.62lb) 7pts; 6, Dave Fuller (1.94lb) 6pts; 7, Ken Williams (1.25lb) 5 pts.
