We now move into the period of winter competitions, eclectic and knockouts, synonimous with the winter period, writes John Bridgman.
I will be taking a winter break at this time in sunnier climes. I realise that some of you will be envious, but my retired status allows such occasions to become more frequent. A four-ball better ball was the order of the day last weekend. Paul Reed and Paul Voeden on 45 points took the honours in a wet, miserable day.
Second place went to Dave Freeman and Alex Freer with 43 points edging James Delve and Martin Pitcher into third spot with 42.
The ‘older chaps’ played out a stableford three man team event with Robin Drake, Ken Todd and Terry Welsh winning with an ‘out of sight’ 86 points. Tim Rufus, Roy Barber and Derek Knights had a better back nine 76, placing Rob Dart, Brian Major and Mike Haddon into third place also with 76 points.
Let us not forget the tragedy that befell so many in Paris caused by people that seem to enjoy death more than life itself.
We, as golfers, the world over, show respect and condolences for those whose lives have been cut short. May they rest in peace.
