Hoping to complete the first half of fixtures at the top of the Exmouth Snooker League table, needing a win to do so, East Budleigh ‘B’ were soundly beaten by the Conservative Club by 5 frames to nil.

Starting the second half in a New Year, they fared a little better, but still lost 4-1 to defending champions and current leaders, Police Social Club ‘A’. Stu Laws won the opening frame 50-28 before Carl Rowsell 69-53, George Webster 79-41, Rob Pow 60-23 and Mike Delahaye 51-18 replied to open up a five-point lead at the top.

East Budleigh ‘A’ narrowed the gap in third place, despite trailing Police ‘C’ who led through Bob Alexander 78-35 and Eric James 61-37. Barry Bentley 60-23 and Kev Luxton 64-50 and 81-36 secured victory in the deciding frame. Luxton was able to play two frames under the substitution rule to enable five frames to be completed.
