Police Social Club A pushing hard to retain Exmouth Snooker League title

Defending Exmouth Snooker League champions, Police Social Club A are pressing hard to retain their title after two successive 4-1 victories.

Firstly, Mike Delahaye (66-9), George Webster (80-47), Pete Abrahams (55-52) and Carl Rowsell (72-45) saw the third frame lost to Frank Kelsey (69-61) at the Police B.

Then Rob Pow made amends against the Police C (65-46) along with Carl Rowsell (81-57), Mike Delahaye (81-57) and George Webster (76-63), but they were denied maximum points by Trevor Haylock’s black-ball (45-44.).

The recent bad weather prevented them from playing their outstanding fixture.

All season leaders, Conservative Club hold a six points advantage after beating second place East Budleigh. Dave Lance (87-57) and Iain Callander (63-55) twice drew level with Alan Farrant (72-38) and Mark Auton (70-49) before Dion Newcombe won a crucial decider (79-51).

East Budleigh won their penultimate match against the Police B. Derek Quick (60-42) and Barry Bentley (47-3) shared four frames with Bob Horton (66-64) and Andy Rice (59-44), then up stepped Mark Auton (82-54) to win their ninth victory.

Not enough to win the title and possibly leaving them short of being runners-up with only one match to play.
