Police A pip Police C in Exmouth Snooker League Cup final

With the Exmouth Snooker League done and dusted, attention is focussed on the various competitions.
The League Cup final was hotly contested by two teams from the Police Social Club, over two legs with aggregate scores to count.
Andrew Binmore 94-36, George Webster 64-63 and Pete Abrahams 67-54 gave the A team a 14 points lead over the best returns from John Parrott 85-54 and John Anderson 73-46 of the C team.
In the final leg, a 44 break by Mark Rock 93-62, Mervyn Long 70-40 and Pete Abrahams 47-21 assured the A team’s overall victory by 24 points, despite replies from Ray Sturman 83-58 and a superb final frame comeback by John Anderson 86-34.
In the Open Billiards, the Number Nine’s Peter Taylor beat John Sharland 400-269, but, lost the Billiards Handicap to Iain Callander 400-300.
Three more trophies were won by Number Nine players, Dave McCarthy in the TomSolman Cup 2-0 and in the East Budleigh Cup, beating Pete Abrahams by 3 frames to nil.
The Snooker Pairs went to Jonathan Duck and Tim Thorn, 2-1 winners against the holders, Mick Jordan and George Webster.
Mark Rock beat Jonathan Duck in high scoring final 2-1 to take the John Sharland Cup for Handicap Snooker.
The Team Knockout Final between East Budleigh A and the Police A is at Otterton, tonight (Thursday) and the season draws to a close tomorrow (Friday) with an eagerly awaited encounter for the Open Snooker championship between Russell Frame and Mark Rock over the best of seven frames on the East Budleigh table.
