FOR those of you who that have visited Woodbury Park Golf Club, where I teach, you will be all too aware of our classic finishing hole the 18th, writes Allan Perry.A par 3 of 130 yards or so, but the front of the green is surrounded by water and, under pressure, the ball seems to be magnetised to it.I have watched many golfers play our 18th and there seems to be a common occurrence. Golfers are under clubbing and finding the deep pond! We have a bunker at the back of the green but the depth of the green is huge!I'm sure there are 50 balls that enter the water for every one golf ball that goes into the bunker at the back of the green. How many times do you miss a green by going too long through the back of it? My guess is, not that often. Many golfers think to themselves: "I'm sure I can get there with this club" ,which means that they are banking on hitting their best ever golf shot just to get to the front of the green. The message I am trying to get across to golfers is take an extra club, swing smooth and find the middle of the green with a half decent shot, there are no shots taken off your score for choosing a wedge to go 130 yards.Club down, swing smooth, and find the green and the very best of luck to you.Book now for a private lesson with Allan and see what improvements you can make to your golf swing.Allan is available for video analysis golf tuition, contact him on 01395 233500.
