Phear Park’s week started with a visit to Axminster and the added challenges of playing on an artificial green with strong winds, writes Sarah Westacott.
Despite some players struggling to adapt to the surface Park did not go too far adrift and only lost by 11 shots.
There was a win from David Dowden, P Bagg and David Evans (skip) who pulled away to win 17 shots to 12 after tea.
There was a closely fought game resulting in a 13-all draw by Brian Halsey, John Whyte and John Dill (skip).
The Over-60s Triples League A team paid another visit to North Tawton this week to play their C squad.
It was bad news again as there were losses on both rinks with Park defeated by 14 shots.
However, there was good news for the B team who enjoyed a five-shot win and maximum points from their game with Feniton.
After a slow start, and not winning a shot until the fifth end, Ron Rooke, Bob Baker and John Anderson (skip) then played steadily to win 22 shots to 10.
The week finished with a superb win against visitors Bradninch by 30 shots, with Park winning on three of the four rinks.
Two rinks both won by 16 shots.
Eileen Burston, Brian Halsey, Ron Rooke and Rob Mottershead (skip) 26 shots to 10 and Margaret Lock, David Dowden, Peter Burch and John Robins (skip) 27 shots to 11.
The other winning rink of Bob Smith, Roland Heale, Faye Downend and David Horne (skip), were 10 shots down at 10 ends, but then went on to win every end after the tea break to win 22 shots to 16.
