LAST Thursday was very much a case of Feniton day for Phear Park, writes Lawrie Harries.

A friendly in the afternoon was followed in the evening by a men's two rink meeting in the Foxlands Trophy - one rink played at home, one away.

The afternoon friendly ended with a win for Feniton by 11 shots. Phear Park's two winning rinks were Gillian Harding, Margaret Lock, Rob Mottershead and Sarah Westacott (skip), who won by 26 shots to 12; while Joan Evans skipped Les Parr, Chas Coates and Hilary Higgins to victory by 18-16.

Having lulled Feniton into a false sense of superiority Phear Park men won the evening encounter by 11 shots.

The away rink of Richard Cooper, Peter Burch, Tom Russell and David Evans (skip) took a healthy lead early on, but fell away before winning by one shot - 20-19.

At home Gerry Sharland skipped John Robins, Leighton Burston and John Walker to a more convincing 24-14 win.
