Phear Park's historic run in the Top Club competition sadly ended in a comprehensive defeat against an excellent Seaton team in our semi-final. Seaton will now go on to play Madeira in the final. Never mind, there's always next year.
In a friendly match at Exeter Princes Gardens, Park went down 3 rinks to 1, losing 52 shots to 73 overall. The triple of John Dill, John Anderson and Sarah Westacott was our only win of the day with a score of 21-16.
A visit to neighbours Budleigh Salterton for another friendly did provide success, however, with two fighting comebacks and a further rink leading from the start resulting in an overall victory of 90-61.
The triple of Kay Beresford, Brian Halsey and Rick Tatchell came back from 0-9 down to win 18-16, and the triple of Nigel Oates, Paul Beresford and Sarah Westacott came back from 3-14 to eventually win 20-18. Sue Smith, Jen Derbyshire and David Adams completed the victory with an impressive 34-3 win.
