Park won by nine shots with Liz Nelson, Lawrie Harries and John Anderson (skip) finishing 10 shots ahead.

A good win also for Kay Beresford, Ron Rooke and David Evans (skip) who came back well from a slow start to win by 16 shots to 12.

An honourable mention for Margo Allen’s triple of Margaret Kenny and Brian Halsey who went down by one shot after a close tussle.

Park have yet find any momentum in the Over-60s Triples League although there are signs of an improvement. The A squad travelled to North Tawton and lost by four shots.

John Dill, John Whyte and David Evans (skip) won by 19 shots to 12 but the second triple went down by 11 shots. Overall two points to Phear Park. The bad news is that Park will return to North Tawton this week to play their C squad.

Park’s B squad travelled to Chagford. Park have never won there – it must be all that fresh air - and they will have to wait until next season to try again as they went down by 12 shots.

The triple of David Maunder, Ron Rooke and Rob Mottershead (skip) were seven shots up going into the penultimate end but they conceded six on the last two ends and ended just one up.

The second rink were well beaten by a strong home trio.

Two points to Park for a winning rink.

The week finished with a defeat by visitors Exeter St Davids by four shots although Park shared the rinks two apiece.

Park’s two winning rinks were Leighton Burston, Roland Heale and Sarah Westacott (skip) who finished a convincing 14 shots ahead; Kay Beresford, Ron Rooke and skip Rob Mottershead had a healthy 11 shot victory.

Former members who have returned after a 12 months or so sabbatical - Eileen Burston, Sarah Westacott, Leighton Burston and David Evans, are all showing fine form which is encouraging for the rest of the season.
