For the first time in the club's history, Phear Park have reached the semi-final stage of the Top Club competition.
This is a multi-discipline annual event, contested by a number of clubs, including Honiton, which is where the Park team recorded a thrilling 3-2 win. Victories in both the 2 wood and 4 wood singles matches, and again in the triples secured the win. Seaton will be the venue for our semi-final, which is scheduled for July 22.
Rain showers and road closures in Phear Park combined to make fixtures hard to manage, but two friendly matches were completed, both against Exeter St Thomas.
It was a home win for Park, thanks to the performances of Nigel Oates, Joan Cowing and Rod Davidson who won 25-5; Jen Derbyshire, John Anderson and Simon Weklawek (22-8); and Peter Burch, Rick Tatchell and Brian Halsey who drew 15 all. An overall win for Park 79-48.
Fortunes were reversed in the away fixture with St Thomas running out 81-53 winners in scorching heat, with all four Park triples losing.
