AFTER months of planning, Exmouth Amateur Boxing club's big tribute night in memory of a founder member from 62 years ago, Mike Norrish, is finally here, writes Phil Crook.

Tomorrow night (Friday) at the Exmouth Pavilion (7.45) will see 14 top class bouts, in what should be a balanced and exciting bill.

Noel Gatehouse faces Mackensie Walker from Poole, in what will be the first full contest for both lads. Club mate Daniel Hardy will also have a Poole opponent when he has a skills contest with Clark Gutteridge.

Unbeaten Jonah Squire will have his work cut out when he meets Boscoe Reynolds from Minehead.

Last season, Reynolds lost by the tiniest of margins to Exmouth's Carne James, who is sadly missing this time due to injury.

Twin brother Eric Squire will be hoping to get off the mark against Curtis Hill from Devonport after losing on a majority in Brixham a fortnight ago on his debut.

Following his transfer from Bedworth Ex-Servicemen's club in Coventry, Jackson Kelly will have to be at his best against the wily Sam Parkins from Tiverton.

Parkins is a renowned counter-puncher and is a joy to watch as he makes opponents miss, before landing his lightening counters.

The search was still going on for a suitable opponent for 15 year old Will James who is itching for his first contest after 18 months in the gym honing his skills.

The only female contest of the night will feature Exmouth's Sunny Wake against Michelle McKinnell from Launceston. This contest could well follow the two previous female bouts in this ring in previous years, which were both voted the best bouts of the night.

Fergus O'Connell makes a welcome return to the ring after a 12 month lay-off when he clashes with Ryan Fisher from Bodmin. With both lads famed for their outstanding boxing skills, this should be a contest for the purists.

Lympstone's Kelsall Spur brothers, Alex and Tristan, meet Kier Mckinnon (Barnstaple) and Janis Tyler (Devonport), respectively.

Something will have to give in the contest between Lympstone's Richard King and Taunton's Robert Milner because both lads won their first contest's recently.

Jared Jones will be looking to build on the first win of his career last month when he meets Tom Allum (Barnstaple), as will team mate Carl Connor when he clashes with Jermaine Ahmed from Mayflower.

Despite extensive searches, no opponents had yet been found for Exeter quartet, Ronnie Lee, Spike Myers, Jake Killen and Faheem Kahn. Lympstone's Matt Mason will top the bill when he meets veteran James Bickham from Minehead in what should be an absorbing contest. Seat tickets priced at 10 are on sale at Auto Save in Exeter Road or on the door on the night, when a further 50 standing tickets, also priced at 10 each, will be made available for sale.
