The DWFL Eastern Division match between Budleigh Salterton and Axminster Town, turned into a frustrating afternoon for the home fans, watching the Robinettes go down to a Jodie Millett own goal in first-half injury time.

Budleigh came more into the game in the second period, but their defence was still made to work hard, with Katie Worsley the outstanding defender and the woodwork also came to their rescue.

The team was struggling as a unit and to make matters worse Jordyn Ward was sent off late on following two bookable offences, and the faint hope of salvaging a point disappeared.

As for Axminster, the early season reverse to Budleigh remains their only league defeat so far. Budleigh will be hoping to even the score to two wins each when they clash again on Sunday in the Quarter Final of the Graddon Vending Devon County F.A. Women’s Senior Cup, at HOME with a 2pm kick-off.
