Following an action-packed grading event, young judo champs from the Exmouth Judo Centre were awarded their new colours.

There are six learner grades in judo, known as ‘Kyu’, and ten senior teaching grades, called ‘Dan’. For every aspiring judoka, moving through the colours is a significant step in their development and congratulations to all these youngsters for demonstrating the commitment, enthusiasm and skill required to progress in this wonderful sport.

The Exmouth club is run by Devon’s Judo Ace John Goldman 7th Dan, and his daughter Ruth, 5th Dan, and they meet every Thursday at the Exmouth Leisure Centre.

“We have a wonderful mix of boys and girls age 4 to 15”, said John. “New members are always welcome, and throughout the summer we are holding free, have-a-go sessions”

Any would-be judo champs can contact Ruth on 07891 794057 to book a free place.
