AFTER a lengthy break over the Easter holiday period the Exmouth Netball league returned to business and the opening match produced a thriller decided by a single goal, writes Louise Passmore. Both Malteazers and EBG went into their clash in positive frames of mind and the early exchanges saw no quarter given as they traded score for score until, just before the end of the first quarter, EBG edged two ahead.During the second quarter, Malteazers held the upper hand, cleared the two goal deficit and the half way mark was reached at 15-15.A big feature of the second quarter was some outstanding long-range shooting from Ginny Coggles, who showed a real talent for finding the net from all sorts of distances. Both sides made positional changes at half-time and, during the third quarter, once again the two side's swapped goal for goal as a high level of play was maintained across the court. The final quarter was thrilling as goal was swapped with goal at either end. With the clock ticking down at a rapid rate, EBG led 33-30 only for Malteazers to surge back, draw level and then score what proved to be the winning goal seconds before the final whistle to claim a 35-34 victory. The respective players of the match were Clare Hodge at goal shooter for EBG and Malteazers centre Jess Watkins.
