The 63rd edition of the famous Patchquick Motocross will take place on Wednesday 10th June 2009 at the Whiteway Barton Circuit, at Kingsteignton, Devon. The original and fabulous three-foot high solid silver trophy was donated by the Patchquick Tyre Company back in the early 1930's and remains perhaps the biggest trophy in British motocross today. Legends such as Jeff Smith, Dave Bickers, Badger Goss, Neil Hudson, Graham Noyce and David Thorpe are all past winners of this illustrious award since it came to real prominence in the 1950's. This year's meeting will once again be run on a Wednesday night and over three legs, a format that was first adopted in 1966 when the victor was Dave Bickers on that memorable evening. The White Barton Circuit has recently undergone its second phase of alterations since coming under the care of Barry Moore, Managing Director of Phoenix Tools - whose company headquarters are based at Kingsteignton. Moore, who is a keen motocross supporter, and close friend of multi World champion Thorpe has called upon David in helping bring the track up to date. The recent addition of a new table top, rhythm section and step up jump will present the riders with a fresh challenge as they go in search of one of the most converted and valuable trophies in domestic motocross today. This year's meeting will feature three - twenty five minute plus one lap motos, with the eventual winner likely to walk away with over 1500, thanks to cash prizes for the holeshot in each race, leg wins and overall honours - not to mention having their name added to this prestigious trophy. The status of this event is confirmed by the quality entry that includes CCM teamsters Tom Church, Jason Dougan and Alix Dunlop plus other top riders such as James Noble, Jordan Rose, Jamie Law, Martin Barr and CCM's Logistic's Manager Dave Yelland on Ray Rowson's factory bike. The organisers remain in negotiations with Stephen Sword in an attempt to add the Red Bull KTM UK rider's name to their entry list, especially following his strong showing at last weekend's British Grand Prix.Practice will get under way at 3.00pm, with the first race scheduled for 6.30pm. Admission is a mere 5.00 for adults, with children under fourteen years old being allowed in for free.Entries are being handled by Vic Ashford, who can be contacted on 01626-332891
