Alex and Ben Lane travelled with the England Badminton Team to Langenfeld in Germany over the weekend.

The brothers won four medals between them beating some of the top players in Europe.

Ben beat the best players from Germany Sweden and Denmark to win the gold medal in the under-15 singles.

He fought back from a set down in the final to beat David Peng of Germany, 18-21, 22-20,21-17.

Older brother Alex had a tremendous run of wins beating the number one in Germany and Sweden before losing to Peter Correl of Denmark the number one seed 19-21,21-23.

In the mixed Alex partnered Chloe Birch of Yorkshire and battled through to his second semi final where, unfortunately, Chloe hurt her knee so they had to withdraw at the bronze medal stage.

In the doubles Alex and regular partner Sam Parsons of Warwickshire lost in the final of the boys doubles to M Sorenson and V Svenson of Denmark 21-17,21-23,17-21.

It proved to be another fabulous weekend for the Lane boys bringing home one gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

Both boys have had a tough summer working hard on their fitness and techniques at Visions Badminton Academy at the Cranford Club in Exmouth.

The performances and medals from their German experience underlines that both remain very much at the forefront of the sport across European competition.

In the coming weeks Ben plays for England at the UK School Games in Sheffield while Alex is waiting to hear if he has been selected for the world under-19 junior championships in China in November.
