There were mixed fortunes for the three Budleigh men’s teams contesting Over-60s Triples League matches last week.
Budleigh Men’s team had mixed fortunes in their latest round of matches in the Over-60s Triples League, writes Don Huish.
Budleigh A lost at home to Starcross A, but gained two points for a rink win thanks to the trio of John Dill, Archie Autton and skip Allan Cottle, who won 20-16 against strong opposition.
The B team lost away to Okehampton C, although the triple of Peter Norman, Stuart Butler and skip Ralph Lawson went mighty close!
Finding themselves trailing 1-10 after seven ends, they fought back well and at the close had reduced the deficit to a modest four shots.
Budleigh C travelled to Tiverton Bowling Club and returned with maximum points.
Terry Kelly, with Tony Dealler and Terry Fitzgerald were five shots down after six ends, but a dramatic turn-around saw them concede only a further two shots to win 21-10.
In contrast, Harry Vanstone’s trio led from start to finish scoring 21 shots to their opponents’ 12.
