BUDLEIGH LADIES BC: Two matches have been played against local clubs. Away to Dawlish, Budleigh lost 30-41. The triples were Marilyn Jackson, Avis Bartlett and Jean Coates (14-18); Lilian Grainger, Joan Evans and Ann Cottle (16-23).

A triples was played at home against Axminster. Budleigh had victories on both rinks. They were Jennifer Mahon, Lilian Grainger and Diane Dixon 33-8, Margaret Avery, Audrey Taylor and Joan Shaw 22-10.

The ladies' committee organised a successful beetle drive and supper, which was enjoyed by 40 members and friends. It raised a healthy sum for club funds. Phil Gibbons won the drive and Jean Coates took home the booby - a glass paper weight containing a beetle.

During the coming week the semi-finals of the singles and pairs will take place.

Dawn Graham plays Ann Cottle and Audrey Taylor plays Jennifer Mahon for a place in the singles final on April 5.
