It was all off road running for the Exmouth Running Belles last weekend and the ladies produced some exceptional performances, writes Clare Medlock.
Fifteen Belles took part in the annual Haytor Heller 10k.
Runners started by running up to the base of Haytor rock and from there they followed a hilly, circular six-mile route.
There was the challenge of negotiating the steep ascents and descents in the heat. The route also took the Belles across the rugged, open moorland, through woodland, across a stream before returning once again to Haytor Rock with a fast downhill finale to the finish.
The first Belle across the line was Jane McDonald in a mighty time of 1:04:28 resulting in her achieving second place in her category.
The Belles also scooped fourth, fifth and sixth places in the team events.
The third team consisted of Jane MacDonald, Amanda McCann, Susan Hill and Louise Watts. The fourth team across the line consisted of Lorraine Kirby, Alison Wilkinson, Suzie Rook and Clare Medlock and the sixth team were; Claire O Neil, Chris Doe, Cally Rowland and Sally Blower.
