IT WAS a real team effort from Malteazers that saw them defeat Comets 5-32 in an enthralling contest, writes Louise Passmore.Goals came in quick succession at the start of the contest with the first two quarters seeing the side swap scores throughout, Malteazers trooping off at the midway stage with a 23-17 lead.In the second half Malteazers increased the tempo led by the hard working Sophie Lyne-Ley in the centre court whilst there were some tremendous interceptions from Sarah Reynolds, Jess Watkins and Emma Finnegan as Comets struggled to get past the excellent defence of Malteazers captain, Annabel Russell, who read the game very well. With shooters, Ginny Coggles and Millie Cooper in excellent form and firing successful shots from all areas, it turned into a richly deserved victory for Malteazers, their first over Comets in eight years of trying! He Players of the Match were Ginny Coggles, the Malteazers goal shooter and for Comets, centre Gill Hall won the accolade.
