MADEIRA Ladies played a fixture over an unusually large 8 rinks when the Swindon & District Women's Bowling Association visited last weekend, writes Jenny Smith.

MADEIRA Ladies played a fixture over an unusually large 8 rinks when the Swindon & District Women's Bowling Association visited last weekend, writes Jenny Smith.What was produced was a very close contest with Madeira winning three rinks, Swindon & District WBA winning three rinks and a draw on the other two, but overall Madeira won by just four shots - 117 to 113.Madeira's three winning rinks with significant wins were skipped by Ann Bellamy, Liz Healy and Annette Flockhart who won by 22 shots to 7, 19 shots to 9 and 22 shots to 5 respectively.Club competitions are progressing well with both the three-wood singles and two-wood singles reaching the semi-final stage. Pat Boman will play Liz Smerdon and Jacky Howle will play Sandra Mott for a place in the three-wood final. Liz Smerdon has also reach the two-wood singles semi-finals and will play Eileen Bagley and Sue Harriott will play Pat Harris.
