MADEIRA ladies have managed to beat the recent inclement weather to get some action, writes Catherine King.

With everyone seemingly in agreement that the best place for all the recent snow is the ski slopes of Europe or indeed a festive Christmas card the bowling fraternity still managed to battle through the weather issues to play games.

In the national triples C Macaulay E Smerdon and Sue Harriott played against a South Hams side skipped by F Ryan and won by a full twenty six shots at 30-4, a result that puts the trio into the Zone Final and it goes without saying that everybody connected with Madeira wish the ladies continued success sin the competition.

The Madeira ladies side travelled to meet Isca in a friendly match and won 64-58.

In other action there was an in-house clash in the County pairs which resulted in Jan Roberts and Catherine King playing May Dyson and Annette Flockhart with the former pairing claiming a 24-7 victory and safe passage to the next round.

On behalf of everybody connected with the Madeira Club may I extend heartfelt wishes for the coming year to all the bowling family and of course to all readers of the Journal.
