MADEIRA ladies made glorious early progress in two out of three National and County team competitions last week, writes Mary Ann Dowrick.

In the National Top Club competition against Morchard Bishop, Madeira showed its sparkle with wins on all four rinks.

Jan Roberts had a convincing win in the Singles, Sue Harriott and Christine Macaulay won their Pairs game, Liz Smerdon with Pat Harris and Angela Denner won the Triples and Liz Healy with Jacky Howle, Brenda Marks and Jill Perrin completed a clean sweep with a win in the Fours.

Madeira now moves on to face local opponents Topsham in the next round with that set to be played tomorrow (June 11).
