The indoor season is underway at Madeira and the highlight of the week was the Over 50s triples team who travelled to Nottingham to play in the National Finals of the EIBA.
The Madeira trio of Jan Roberts, Catherine King and Janine Orchard did splendidly, winning two close games, first against Brighton and then Riverain, for a place in the semi-final against Desborough, Northants, who went on to win the competition.
The ladies section enjoyed a strong win at home against Dawlish winning by 78 shots to 39. In their final practice before travelling to Nottingham for the national finals, both Janine Orchard, playing with Carolyn Parker, Angela Fish and Jenny Charles, and Catherine King led their teams to high-scoring wins, Janine’s team achieving an impressive plus 21 shots.
The Madeira ladies won by 54 shots to 38 at Sidmouth. Christine Macaulay, Sue Lampey and Lin Halpin saw their plus 8 shot difference the highest of the day.
