Madeira ladies played Sidmouth ladies in the Lane Trophy, writes Catherine King

In the home encounter, Nikki Fiddimore, Lyn Halpin, Anne Doidge and MaryAnn Dowrick were 19-17 winners.

The other team of Jenny Turner, Mollie Cooper, Thelma Wildon and Veda Bevan won their game 20-12.

In the meeting at Sidmouth, Josie Glaister, Fay Hughes, Dee Williams and May Dyson were beaten 25-12 but there was victory for Norma Cureton, Jan Worsfold, Pat Cain and Jean Healey, who triumphed 16-13.

In the Foxlands trophy, Madeira ladies played Torquay United.

In the home leg, Jill Perrin, Pat Harris, Jean Rainton and Catherine King won 20-16 and the team of Janine Orchard, Veda Bevan, Pat Boman and Sue Harriott won by three shots at 19-16.

In the away section of then contest, Jan Roberts, Sandy Cox, Angela Denner and Jacky Howle went down by four shots at 18-14 but there was a three shot victory at 17-14 for Janet Allen, Annette Flockhart, Christine Macaulay and Liz Smerdon.

Last, but certainly not least, congratulations go to Ian King and Mick Powell who received their County badges recently at Weymouth
