Madeira ladies in success at Sidmouth

PUBLISHED: 15:00 18 June 2010

Madeira Ladies enjoyed success in the Devon County Pairs hosted at Sidmouth, where two Madeira pairs excelled and will now go on to the finals of this competition in July. Congratulations to skip Jacky Howle with Nikki Fiddimore and to skip Sue Harriott with Liz Smerdon.

The Devon County Triples played at Honiton were equally pleasing, with victories for two Madeira teams. Skip Eileen Bagley with Deirdre Aldridge and Kate Andrews did well to win their game against Honiton’s County bowlers, while skip Sue Harriott with Liz Smerdon and Angela Denner also moved smoothly through to the next round. In the Grace Mathews Top Club competition, Madeira One proved too good for Feniton, winning 4 of the 5 disciplines. They now go through to the next round of this competition to be played by July 20.

Last, but most certainly not least, in the Over-55 pairs, skip Jean Rainton with Jenny Smith won their game against Seaton opponents 22-11. Meanwhile, skip Jacky Howle with Kate Andrews were successful in the first round against a Seaton duo before winning again against the Ottery St. Mary pairing of Molly Parker and Terry Ward. Both Madeira pairs now move into the quarterfinals of this competition.
