Madeira ladies have another busy, and successful week

The past week has again been busy one for all involved with Madeira ladies, writes Catherine King.

In the national two-wood triples Jill Perrin, Angela Denner and Annette Flockhart won 22-6 against clubmates Christine Macaulay, Nicky Fiddimore and Sue Harriott.

In a Foxlands encounter with Sidmouth the only winning rink for Madeira was the foursome of Dee Williams, Dee Norman, Brenda Marks and Sue Harriott.

It was a case of triumph all round in a Lane Trophy meeting with Mid Devon. In the home element of the match there was an 18-15 success for Janet Allen, Jan Worsfold, Lin Halpin and May Dyson whilst the team of Jose Glaister, Pat Wilkins, Millie Powell and Jean Healey won 18-17.

In the away element there was a thrilling 17-16 victory for Janet Grundy, Fay Hughes, Thelma Wildon and Nicky Fiddimore whilst the team of Jean Bagnall, Penny Preece, Ann Doidge and Jenny Smith won 24-5.

In a friendly match against Sidmouth, Madeira ladies won overall by four shots and in the County Triples competition Jill Perrin, Joy Penberthy and Annette Flockhart won by four shots against Christine Macaulay, Nicky Fiddimore and Sue Harriott. In the National Over-60s singles there was a 21-18 success for Jan Roberts against Beryl Willis of Mid Devon.

In the county pairs at Honiton Jan Roberts and Catherine King won 25-1 against Sally Spreadbury and Shirley Hiscocks.

Finally folks, a date please for your diaries as the Christmas Fayre will be geld at Madeira this coming Saturday (December 6) with a 10am start. Visitors will be made very welcome to the Fayre.
