Madeira Ladies’ enjoy more cup success across Devon

Madeira enjoyed a tremendous Mason Trophy success last week.
The ladies were winners both at home and away in the clash with North Devon.
In the home leg Jan Roberts, Jenny Smith, Brenda Marks and Catherine King won 32-10 whilst there was a 23-21 success for the away team of Jill Perrin, Jose Glaister, Veda Bevan and Jean Rainton.
A Lane Trophy match with Mid Devon was played over three rinks as the opposition were unable to field four rinks!
At home Janet Grundy, Fay Hughes, Dee Williams and Nikki Fiddimore won 23-12 and there was a 13-11 home triumph also for Myra Furminger, Margaret Humphrey, Ann Doidge and Shirley Smith.
In the away element of the match Jean Bagnall, Janet Gosling, Lin Halpin and May Dyson won 16-11.
There was mixed fortunes for the ladies in a Foxlands meeting with Torbay. At Madeira Jill Perrin, Veda Bevan, Jean Rainton and Jackie Howle won 27-6 but Dee Williams, Sandie Cox, Annette Flockhart and Liz Smerdon lost 13-29. However, the away leg of the match proved moist fruitful for Madeira as in South Devon there was a 26-11 triumph for Jan Roberts, Jenny Smith, Brenda Marks and Catherine King whilst Angela Denner, Deidre Norman, Janine Orchard and Sue Harriott won 20-16.
In the National singles Janine Orchard played Beryl Willis at Mid Devon and secured a marvellous 21-11 victory.
In the National triples Jill Perrin, Angela Denner and Annette Flockhart won 20-10 against Nikki Fiddimore, Liz Smerdon and Sue Harriott.
