On Tuesday, Madeira played host to Brimfield and Little Hereford Touring Team who are celebrating their 30th Anniversary this year, writes jenny Smith.

The club has a fascinating history, starting with the 20 volunteers who turned up to lay the original turf all those years.

They celebrated their 25th anniversary with a tour to Windsor which concluded with a handshake from Her Majesty the Queen when she turned up to the match!

Madeira couldn’t offer them anything so grand, but a cloudy afternoon meant the temperature was very comfortable for the triples match.

Madeira won on four rinks, lost on one and drew on the sixth. Top rink was skipped by Joan Mansell who playing with Tony Howle and Chris Reed scored 25-9 and considerably helping towards the overall win of 109-71 overall.

On Friday Budleigh Salterton held their Victory Cup invitation triples which consisted of five triples from Budleigh and five visiting clubs. The winners of the event were Steve Stott, Keith Weeks and Ian Thomson from Madeira.
