Last weekend saw the indoor competition between Madeira members who had been bowling for less than two years, writes Jenny Charles.

The competition is played for the Bert Webb Trophy and this year there were 18 players involved.

There was some bowling to a very high standard throughout the day. One of the club coaches, who has helped the new bowlers, Dee Williams said: “I am so proud of all the players who have come through the club coaching system.”

At the end of the day, Graham Cottey and Nick Cole had the highest total of points and so met in the final.

The audience were entertained by superb bowling, Graham earning the honours becoming this year’s champion. This really was another well-run competition and clearly thoroughly enjoyed by all involved.
