Lympstone ABCs Devon Dorset and Cornwall schoolboy champion Rory Clay notched up another good win on the Factory ABC tournament, writes Neil Parsons.

Clay featured in a return bout with the home club’s Jay Phelps; these two met on the recent show at Exmouth Pavilion when Phelps won a very tight majority decision.

However, this time Clay was in devastating form pumping in three punch combinations that had Phelps on the back foot from the outset never letting the Gloucester lad settle into any rhythm and running out a unanimous points winner by scores of 12– 6 14-7 10-7.

Jack Silk dropped a majority verdict to Noah Marshall of Knowle ABC Bristol in a very tight bout that could have gone either way.

Aaron Robinson, boxing at Weston-super-Mare, met Wesley Williams of the home club and overcame the height and weight advantage enjoyed by the home boxer with some very clever boxing slipping inside the long reach of his opponent and unloading some very heavy shots and running out a comfortable points winner.

The Lympstone club’s top junior Harry Webb travels to Bodmin on Saturday to compete in the Devon, Dorset and Cornwall Junior ABA Championships.
