After a two year break due to the lockdown, the Exmouth Snooker League made a long awaited start to a new season with a welcome addition from East Budleigh B.

They beat the defending champions, Police Social Club A with four frame wins for Stuart Laws 56-47, David Frear 47-33, Mervyn Long 64-39 and Duane Greenslade 49-41. Mike Delahaye won on the black 54-47 to deny them maximum points.

Police C enjoyed a similar result at East Budleigh A, as John Parrott 74-58, Ray Sturman 76-66, John Evens 70-49 and Bob Alexander 58-45 dropped only the third frame to Barry Bentley 57-5.

On the Police B table, Terry Merrick 78-61 and Dave Thomas 58-46 were pegged back by Kevin Procter 54-39 and Dave Lance 71-52 of the Conservative Club, before Phil Rowsell clinched the final frame 48-44 for the home side.

Welcome back to all local snooker players, it’s been a long time coming.
