Friday night’s National Trophy speedway meeting between Plymouth Devils and Isle of Wight is set to be dedicated to the memory of both Ivan Mauger and Vaclav Verner.

Rob Doran says: “It’s a real thrill to be able to say that Friday night’s meeting at the St Boniface Arena is to be dedicated to the memory of them both and, at the meeting there will be a minute’s silence observed, which I expect will be followed by a resounding round of applause to do justice to two such giants of the sport.”

He continued: “The Plymouth devils team, for the opening meeting parade and the warm-up lap, will be wearing the Falcons racing bibs from the era that both Ivan and Vaclav rode in and the race night mascots will also be wearing Falcons jackets from the time.”

The race bibs and jackets are from the personal collection of Rob Doran, who added: “What we do hope is that plenty of Falcons supporters will turn out for what is bound to be a very special - and emotional - night.”

Friday night’s meeting has a tapes up time of 7.15pm.
