The House of Lords continues to shine a spotlight on the impact lockdown has made to physical activity and participation.
Following on from the recent debate on grassroots sport, the Lords Sport and Recreation Committee met this week with the Football Foundation, Cycling UK. Goodgym and parkrun.
The Lords invited these premier organisations involved with promoting participation in sport to hear their ideas on how to get communities active as we hopefully emerge from the latest lockdown.
Beyond the initial hearing, further evidence was provided by the Outdoor Industries Association, who are tasked with promoting outdoor activity beyond the traditional team sports.
Some of the specifics discussed included the delivery of sport and recreation, access to greenspaces and other sports and leisure facilities, how organisations can work successfully with local authorities and the promotion of diversity in participants.
