Hockey season to start

THE Exe Hockey Club, who are now back in regular weekly training for a new campaign, are keen to make it clear that as a mixed club they are eager to recruit new members for both the men's and ladies' sides.

THE Exe Hockey Club, who are now back in regular weekly training for a new campaign, are keen to make it clear that as a mixed club they are eager to recruit new members for both the men's and ladies' sides.The Exe club have come about following the amalgamation of the Exmouth and the Exeter hockey clubs and that has produced a sporting club that boats five adult hockey XIs and a thriving youth section.All standards of hockey, both men's and ladies', is catered for and training nights are each Tuesday on the astro turf surface at St Luke's college in Exeter from 7pm to 8.30pm and anybody interested is asked to turn up at the venue where they will be made very welcome.One new inovation this season is the introduction of an additional evening with Thursday night set aside for fitness sessions as the club gears up for another campaign of National League hockey.The Exe club begin their season in terms of matches on September 6 although they will be 'on parade' this coming Sunday (August 17), when they marshall the Matford car boot sale as part of a fund-raising drive.
