Hatchard leads Harriers home at Chudleigh Carnival race

Last Friday evening the Chudleigh Carnival Road Race was held over the usual hilly course of just over six-and-a-half miles, writes Dave Eveleigh.

Exmouth’s Tony Hatchard was seventh in 33:05, behind a trio of runners from Bristol and from Torbay.

Jim Wyatt may well register a 71st birthday next month, but once again there was no specific category for over 70s who had to take their chances with runners in the younger 65–69 group.

The grand master of running was 132nd in 52:08 and there were 173 finishers of whom 52 (almost a third) were female.
