MADEIRA pairing, Sue Harriott and Liz Smerdon took part in the International series in Jersey last week and played their part in England retaining the Eve Trophy, writes Jenny Smith.

MADEIRA pairing, Sue Harriott and Liz Smerdon took part in the International series in Jersey last week and played their part in England retaining the Eve Trophy, writes Jenny Smith.Played over 6 rinks, England beat Jersey, Wales and Ireland but lost to Scotland. England, Wales and Scotland ended up with 6 points each, but England won the trophy with a significant shot difference.Madeira's Jan Roberts and Pat Harris took part in the Topsham Open Ladies Triples Tournament recently, with Topsham's Jean Chudley substituting for Sue Harriott, winning all four games but coming second by the shot difference.In the DCLBA Over 55 Pairs, Christine Macaulay and Sue Harriott won against a Crediton team, as did Pat Harris and Jan Roberts. The Madeira pairs now have to play each other. In the same competition, Jean Healey and Eileen Bagley have won three rounds and now have to play Crediton. In the Over 70s Pairs, Pat Harris and Eileen Bagley beat first a Topsham team and then Madeira's Pat Boman and Jean Bridge and are through to the third round.
