Exe Table Tennis club held its annual, end of season, junior skills tournament at last week’s Tuesday’s club night.

Playing for the Brian Worts Trophy, twelve junior club members battled it out over seven table tennis skill games and a quick reaction test.

The games are designed to be fun and also to help improve table tennis techniques such as fore-hand and back-hand serves, accurate return shots and fair play.

Overall winner, with a score of 22, was Max Handford who joined the club this year and has proved himself to be a good player.

Last year’s winner, Matthew Wellington, came a close second with 21 points. Joel Potten played well and claimed third place with a score of 19.

Brian, who ran Exe TT for many years, was not available in person to present the trophy, but was present in the form of a life size cardboard cut-out.

The club is now closed for the summer, but would like to invite all club members and parents of junior club members to their AGM which is due to be held on July 24, in the board room of Paul Humphries Architects, 49a Salterton Road, at 7.15pm.

Please come along and have your say in the way the club will be run next year. It is intended to run a new junior league within the club when it reopens in September.

Open to all under-16 year old members of the club it will promote fair, competitive play and prepare them for the adult leagues.
