Great performances from Exmouth swimmers at Devon Sprint Gala.

Exmouth Swimming and Life Saving Society were well represented at the Devon Sprint Gala held at the Plymouth Life Centre last weekend, writes Glen Currie.
Swimmers aged nine and over attended for a gruelling day of sprint races each swimmer swimming four races over the day.
Over 30 Exmouth swimmers attended the event with over 80 pb’s being broken and several club records.
Lillmay Girvin started off the day in fine form winning the nine and under 50m fly and also breaking a club record.
Kaylee Sprigmore swam well with a fine top six finish in the girls 14u fly. Amber Morrison picking up a silver medal in the 15u age group, Eve Birrell narrowly missed a medal finishing fourth in the 16 and overs
Joshua Smith with a fine fourth place in the 11u fly, this matched by Joel Rawe in the 12u age group. The boys 14u again all pushed each other and all finished well within the top 10.
Joseph Bollington finished well within the top ten in the boys breaststroke 10u division whilst Zac Calland finished just outside top 10 in 11th place in the 11u age group.
Gold again for Lilymay Girvin in the 9u with another club record. The girls showing the way with a fantastic debut swim in the 10u for Clara Woodhead with gold. Kiera Jordan a top 10 finish in the 13u. Katherine Cornwell-Brown and Kaylee Sprigmore top 10’s in the 14u. Amber Morrison silver medal in the 15u and Eve Birrell bronze in the 16 and overs.
Joel Rawe had a fine swim picking up the silver medal in the 12u age group. In the 14u boys some fine swimming by all Exmouth swimmers resulted in three top 10 finishes for Alfie Collinson, Aidan Spiller and Lewis Webb.
In the boys 16 and over section Liam Spiller picked up a bronze medal to finish off a good breast stroke session for the club.
Backstroke was next and Lilymay picked up another medal this time a bronze, but again another club record at the same time.
Heidi Schunck just missed out finishing fourth in the girls 10u age group. Katherine Cornwell-Brown in the 14u picked up a silver medal, Amber Morrison in the 15u went one better, winning gold.
The final discipline was freestyle another gold another club record for Lilymay Girvin, to round off a fantastic days swimming.
Sophie Spillar was just outside the top 10 in the 11u. Gold for Kaylee Sprigmore in the 14u, silver for Amber Morrison in the 15u, and Eve Birrell just outside the medals in the 16 overs.
Top 10 finishes for Joseph Bollington 10u, Joel Rawe 12u and Callum Rawcliffe 13u.
The Boy’s 14u all finished within the top 10 with Lewis Webb 0.2 of a second from a bronze medal. Liam Spiller finished off the day with a bronze medal.
Next up will be another trip to Plymouth in April this time for the interclub championships.
